GMK DIN Swing Check Valve
A disc attached to a swinging hinge or shaft makes up a swing check valve. The disc slides off the seat to let water pass through in one direction and then slides back onto the seat to prevent water from flowing backward. Both the disc’s mass and the flow rate in reverse affect the valve’s ability to close. In order to maximize efficiency, it is common to mount a lever in conjunction with a weight or a spring. In situations where water hammer is likely to occur at normal flow rates, a lever and weighted swing check valve should be installed. If you have high pressure, low back pressure, and a fast flow rate, a lever, and external spring swing check valve is your best bet. The disc in a swing check valve needs to be cleaned occasionally, so it’s not fully maintenance-free. As an added convenience, a lever is typically attached for easy visual inspection. Because of this, swing check valves are commonly used in areas frequented by humans.
