GMK Bimetal Steam Trap
When it comes to thermodynamics, a “bimetal” is a term that refers to two bonded plates of different metals. When subjected to a change in temperature, the dissimilar metals begin to deform because of the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of the various metals. When it comes to bimetallic steam traps, the process of opening and closing a valve head is controlled by a deformed bimetallic element. Some bimetallic steam traps allow for the working temperature to be set by the user via programmable controls. The field technicians are able to alter the temperature at which the bimetallic steam traps it is running by using other varieties of the device. The bimetal element in these traps opens when the temperature falls below a certain threshold, and it shuts when the temperature exceeds a certain threshold.
